El Conquistador Resort

I got lucky enough to score a trip to Puerto Rico for Spring Break with my boyfriend's family
the resort we are staying at, El Conquistador, is absolutely stunning.
since I cannot seem to contain my excitement, I decided to share some photos with you all of the amazing place I get to enjoy for a week

there is so much to do around the resort including horseback riding, relaxing at one of the various pools, enjoying the water park and lazy river, or simply lounging at the beach.
did I mention it is 82 degrees there today?

what are your plans for spring break?

{look out for a post about my spring break picks}

Alana Blanchard

most of the action sports are considered a guys' sport. but there are plenty of strong and talented girls out there to prove those who think that wrong.
One surfer I find inspiring, not to mention gorgeous, is Alana Blanchard.
a native Kauai beauty, Alana has been surfing since she was four years old.
she began to competitively surf just five years later.
At 20 years old, she has accomplished a lot of wins in competitions around the world.
According to her blog, Alana hopes to someday win a world title.

You can't really beat living a life that you are so passionate about is Alana is about surfing.
I am glad I am working on pursuing a career in what I am passionate about, fashion.

it is inexpensive, and easy.

What You Will Need:

1 Tsp Nutmeg
2 Tsp Cornstarch
15 Drops of Rose Otto, Lavender or Rosemary Essential Oil

A Few Tips:

Cinnamon adds glow

Nutmeg gives a sun kissed brown

Cornstarch spreads it all out and lightens it
Essential oil keeps it together and thickens.

How to Do It:
- Adjust the levels of ingredients to your shade and mix well in a small bowl.
- Break up any clumps until it's smooth.
- Place the powder in a clean, empty compact and pack it in firmly.

Southern California

today I found out one of my really good friends from high school is coming to visit!
she is coming from January 3 until the 8th and I am so excited.
now that I know I have a visitor on the way - I started to think about everything I want her to see and do - the things I love about southern California
here are some of the ideas I came up with;
maybe it will be helpful for some of you if you come to SoCal one day.

Locally:

Top of the World, Laguna Beach, CA
{ my favorite hiking spot and views in all of Laguna }

Irvine Spectrum Center, Irvine, CA
{ great shopping and restaurants }

Shaw's Cove, Laguna Beach, CA
{ my favorite beach spot in Laguna }

A Scenic and Short Drive Away:

Downtown Disneyland, Anaheim, CA
{ House of Blues, Fox Sports Grill, and Disney princesses - need I say more? ;) }
thankfully this is an extremely short drive from home.

Gaslamp District, Downtown San Diego, CA
{ cute shops, restaurants, and lounges }

Santa Barbara, CA
{ my best friend is about to move here so we may pay her a visit - and SB is just beautiful }

The Grove, Los Angeles, CA
{ I normally try to avoid venturing into Los Angeles - I realize that sounds crazy - but some places people just have to see }

Homemade Shea Butter Body Cream

bitter breezes and freezing frost will really leave your skin feeling extra dry.
to cure this, I have found a homemade shea butter body cream.
that only requires three ingredients!

What You Need:
3 tablespoons shea butter
4 tablespoons sweet almond oil
8 drops each of geranium, orange, and sandalwood essential oils

The Concoction:
1) Heat the shea butter in a double boiler until melted.
2) Stir in the sweet almond oil.
3) Remove from heat and stir in the essential oils.
4) Pour into a glass container, a mason jar is a cute option, and let it sit overnight to solidify.
5) Enjoy!

my plans for winter break

my boyfriend got me the most amazing book for an early Christmas present
it's called "P.S. I Made This.." by Erica Domesek and is from Urban Outfitters
in the book there are helpful and easy hints on how to make different pieces of jewelry, accessories, clothing, and shoes.
I am planning on trying to make my way through the entire book and make each piece in there.

watch out for my stuff on etsy.com within the next week!

pictures to come as soon as I get going on making some stuff!

my christmas list

fourth quarter of my program at FIDM has been so stressful;
having a job and two internships on top of being a full time student does not make life a walk in the park.
so for Christmas I couldn't think of anything better to ask for than things to just help me relax and enjoy the free time I do have..

My Christmas List:

what did you ask Santa for?

hobbies & interests

I have decided I have far too many hobbies and interests.
I'm so fascinated by fashion, obviously. but I also love the decorative details of weddings, the ability to capture an incredible photograph, the ridiculous mix of flavors and textures in a specific recipe, the delicate or edgy details of a piece of jewelry and the amazing decor or architecture in a home.
If it were physically possible, I would be a boutique owner, a wedding planner, a professional photographer, a chef, a jewelry maker, and an interior designer.
I may even attempt to do it all.
here are some pictures of interiors and various homes that I found that I just love.
I really need to build a house someday and be the dictator of every detail.
that's like my dream come true...
